The Letter C of the Word Career

On this post  I want us to look at the meaning  of the word CAREER. Give a hint of why there  are different career paths and what you need to understand before making a career choice or a career  move.

This post intends to give meaning to the first letter of the word Career the letter C . Subsequent posts will define the following letters. The letter C, according to me stand for CALLING (have that in mind)

 A career is  a calling, its  a way of life, , It’s something we do to add value and meet the needs in the lives of others doing this in exchange of profit or  salary.A calling is a  strong urge towards a particular way of life/being 

When you understand that your career is a calling you also automatically understand that it is more about the people you are called to serve than you. What is interesting is that when through your career, calling or  occupation  you service those you are called to serve and you serve them diligently you turn to have a fulfilling career.

When a child is born the parents give the child a name. The mistake we make is to think that it ends there.

 Let us use this simple analogy

When the child is born the universe stand with expectation  and a hope that a solution to one of its problems has been born. And it gives you a name according to the problem that you were born to solve. Some they are named teachers, doctors , surgeons, entrepreneurs  etc from their day of birth.

Your creator gives you a name according to the need your are born to meet.And because you are born to meet that particular need you are already loaded with necessities to meet the need.

Like everything in life, there are consequences of not answering to the call, .Within our families there is a price to pay for disobedience. When your mother calls you to do something and you do the opposite The rule applies, When you are to do something  and you do the opposite there are consequences like frustration, lack of fulfilment, disgruntled customers, poor service delivery and more.

Failure to respond to the call results in a fierce unconscious argument between the individual and his/her Creator later in life. This is the argument that over 95% of the people are engaged in, which normally breeds great confusion in ones career journey. The universe calls you an artist and its proof is your natural talent, your abilities and your passions. And you are calling yourself an engineer and your proof is a qualification. The Universe argues that the talent, passion ,natural abilities have been there before the qualification actually the qualification was supposed to enhance and equip the artist you were created to be.

To avoid this kind of argument and confusion, open your self up to the call, answer to it, to make it your way of life, get trained in it, daily develop yourself  in it, explore ways to be better at it and that my friend is a calling and it is career

If you are in a process of making a career/business choice or perhaps even reinventing your career let this mind be in you that a career is a calling, and a calling it is never about you but those you are called to serve.

The key question should be in what field am I called to serve. This  is not the question to be answered by your mind, it is not the question to be answered by what looks appealing from the outside. The answer to the question is embedded within you. Your natural talent, your passions, your personality expresses it at different times and in different ways yours is to pay attention and answer to the call.
